SCIENCE CENTERS
The Science groups will rotate through the following stations. The first three on this list are done in one day and the two hikes in Lundy Canyon are on the other day. Each of the four Science groups will visit all the stations, but not in the same order. Visitor’s Center- Outside walking stations. Inside museum and gift store. (The students will have already seen the movie.) Watch it here South Tufa- This naturalist-lead walk takes you through the tufa grove at the lake shore to catch Brine Shrimp and discover what has happened to Mono Lake as a result of water diversions and what is happening now that the lake is rising. Panum Crater- Panum crater is a dormant Volcano near the shore of Mono Lake. This short, moderate hike to the volcano plug has a variety of fascinating rocks with a great view on Mono Lake an the surrounding mountains. Lundy Canyon- We will take three short hikes through Lundy Canyon, a beautiful alpine canyon that drains into Mono Lake. Instructors will help us piece together some of the geological and natural-historical puzzles that have created such a wonderful and beautiful area. |
ESTACIONES DE LA CIENCIA
Los grupos Ciencia girará a través de las estaciones siguientes. Los tres primeros de esta lista se hacen en un día y las dos alzas en Lundy Cañón están en el otro día. Se puede verlo aqui (en inglés) South Tufa- Toba Sur-Oeste - Paseo naturalista de plomo que lleva a través de la arboleda de toba en la orilla del lago para capturar camarón de salmuera y descubre lo que ha sucedido con el Lago Mono, como resultado de las desviaciones de agua y lo que está sucediendo ahora que el lago está en aumento. Panum Crater- Cráteres Panum es un volcán inactivo cerca de la orilla del lago Mono. Esta caminata corta, moderada y el enchufe volcán tiene una variedad de rocas fascinante, con una gran vista del lago Mono en una montaña de los alrededores. Lundy Canyon- Vamos a tomar tres caminatas cortas a través de Lundy Canyon, un cañón de montaña hermosa que desemboca en el Lago Mono.
